Description
Welcome!WHAT IS GREAT ABOUT THEM: a fabulous pair of knifewing earrings by the famous Zuni artist, Horace
Iule, very well cast, an early casting, very clean and strong. The
knifewings
contain top quality Sleeping Beauty turquoise and sterling silver. I added a beautifully inlaid very old Zuni top (same period as the knifewing) as part of converting the earrings to pierced. They were a gorgeous separate pair of earrings, inlaid with red abalone,
turquoise and jet, in a lovely complex shape with tiny applied raindrops and dating very early, too. The tops can be removed of course, used as separate earrings, and a plain post or hook added to the Horace Iule knifewings, creating two pair.
BACKGROUND: Horace Iule was one of the all-time great Zuni artists, worked for CG Wallace and was collected by him and included in the Sotheby's auction, a major prize winner and highly valued by the best galleries and museums. These are among his best.
CONDITION: excellent vintage, wearable and collectible. Normal age related wear.
MEASUREMENTS:
• The knifewing portion measures
1.25" high and 15/16" wide
• The entire length is 2" with the same width of 15/16"
• Weight is 8.5g and 8.54g
• Guaranteed attribution to Horace Iule for the knifewings and I don't know who did the inlaid top but it's gorgeous old work.
• the knifewings are unmarked sterling silver with Sleeping Beauty mine turquoise and the top portion includes red abalone, turquoise and jet
SUMMARY: stunning Horace
Iule Knifewing earrings which will work with anything. I included pictures of some other pieces of his I have available separately in the store. These are unique and wonderful earrings. Great collectibles!

I generally ship same day. Domestic: FREE expedited US shipping. I’m including insurance on all my shipments till the PO resumes full functionality.
International buyers pay actual shipping cost if I’m shipping myself rather than using eBay’s Global Shipping service, and International buyers are responsible for any customs fees their own countries may apply. Please discuss changing shipping method prior to purchase. My shipping defaults to Express International, which is tracked and insured, but I can use Priority Mail International. It's less expensive and is also tracked. First Class International is no longer offered by the US Postal Service. I charge the actual shipping cost and since shipping to each country costs a different amount, I will charge a little extra and refund the exact difference once I can put your address in and print a shipping label. I am no longer shipping to Italy and China, but can make exceptions if you speak with me about it, especially if you are a prior customer.
Returns will be accepted for 30 days after your receipt for any reason and without question. Please let me know if you would like to return something. When I include pages from published books in my listings it is in accordance with Fair Use Law, which permits the use of source material for discussion, reference, education and criticism.
Attributions on many of the old pieces of Native American jewelry are sometimes a moving target. All the books have errors, so in addition to counterchecking, I have developed some expertise over the years and I do care about getting it right, so as more information comes to light I update my listings and also get in touch with my previous buyers, to inform them of any changes in attributions. I am sincerely committed to ongoing accuracy.

I vet every item carefully for quality and condition, and offer you the best. I want you to be able to rely on me for top quality, superb items that are often unique and rare examples of old antique vintage southwest, indian, native american and fine gold and gemstones, whether you're starting a collection or adding to one, or want something great to wear or gift.
