    Medal group correctly impressed to J. 81994. L. D. RIGG. ORD. R. N.
    Leonard Darnley Rigg
    Rigg was born on November 12, 1899, in Accrington, Lancashire, England to Father William Darnley Rigg (1867-1953) and Mother Helen Whiteley (1877-). Rigg’s Father was a Clothing Store Manager and his mother was a Housewife. Rigg was 5’6” tall with light brown hair and blue eyes.
    Rigg began his service in the Royal Navy on December 12, 1917, on the HMS Vivid 1 (Davenport Naval Barracks). Rigg was transferred aboard the HMS Bellerophon December 27, 1918, through his demobilization on February 26, 1919. His medal entitlement being issued directly to him.
    Rigg married Nellie Parkinson (1899-1963) of Lancashire, England in April of 1923. Rigg had one son who died in infancy. Rigg’s wife passed away in 1963 with Rigg following on January 21, 1970. Very little information appears to be available on Rigg. Also entitled to Victory Medal. No further research undertaken.
