Description
Scarce to find a trio that hasn't been broken up - let alone one with a 1914 Star in it!These medals are in fine condition showing only the lightest of finish wear to the War and Victory medals. The Star shows a bit more wear than the others but not much. Otherwise no condition issues and a tough to improve on infantry soldier's grouping.
Medals were awarded to 2221 Pte J Edworthy 9-Lond R, who per medal awards cards was James Edworthy, serving with 1st of the 9th. He landed with the rest of the 1st in France November 4th 1914. I couldn't find a service record on file for him, but only spent a few minutes looking. The QVR history of WWI is available online via google books (see last photo screenshot), so should be able to follow his service at least at the high level. The unit did see combat throughout the war, though who knows if Edworthy was still with them in November 1918. With the 2nd service number on his awards card, he very well may have been - as the 1st was amalgamated with the 2nd in 1918 and they may have received new service numbers then? Medal award card is the digital image only, no physical document included.
