Commission to be a Writer to the Signet - Edinburgh Scotland 1910for Thomas Wilfrid Bennet Clark
with 25 POUND (!) embossed revenue / tax / duty stamp

Thomas Clark served in WW1 with the 9th Battalion Royal Scots at Ypres , the Somme (where he was gassed), Arras, and Soissons.
Due to being gassed, he is recorded in the Society of Writers to the Signet
Roll of Honour
in 1919 , he served with the 11th Battalion Royal Scots British Army of the Rhine
also included,
a 1907 document binding a younger Clark to a 3 year Signet apprenticeship
