    Description

Vintage Santo Domingo Depression 2 Tabs from Necklace 1930's Car Battery & Plastic.  These are 2 tabs or pendants that came from an Santo Domingo depression era necklace.  There would have been more tabs and possibly a thunderbird in the center of the necklace.  The back of the pieces are black and are usually pieces of car batteries or broken records.  The red is not coral but plastic from some household utensil.  The green in these pieces could be turquoise from nearby Cerrillos, but more than likely it is plastic too.  These were made during the 1930's by the Pueblo Indians at Santo Domingo Pueblo, just south of Santa Fe, and sold to tourists visiting New Mexico for a dollar or two.  They have become very collectable in the last few years, more difficult to find and much more expensive.  I have owned these pieces about 5 years.  They could be made into earrings or used to string your own necklace.  You can see by the cord that I used that the hole is small.  Each measures about 7/8" X 7/16" X 1/4" and weighs about 1/4 oz.
