    Description

Lot is for a nice piece for a serving table from MIDDLETOWN (Connecticut) PLATE COMPANY--the Quadruple Plate (Silverplate) HARD WHITE METAL #16 SWEETMEATS BOX.
The item is in good condition.  The handle is secure, but is missing the center top finial that hung down from the lower part of the handle.  There is a knob missing on the left handle holder on the box (see the right side of it).  The slide drawer is missing one metal "leg" stop on the rear right.  The rear left (looking from the front) leg is slightly bent out, but does not affect how the box sits, or how the drawer operates.
The wheel is in place and works well.  The cherub/angel figure is present and complete.  The handles are solid and in overall good condition.  There is a monogram "FLM" just below the cherub on the front side of the lid.  The body of the box is etched with a flowing floral/leaf/vine design which also follows the lip of the lid and the bands across the top on either side of the cherub.  The drawer is in excellent condition.  The makers mark is on the bottom center of the drawer and is readable.  The box is tarnished, but can be cleaned up if the ultimate owner chooses to do so.
