    Description

Victoria Regina Et Imperatrix medal, with Cape Colony Clasp
2nd Boer War in South Africa, 1899-1902
Private C. Frewin, Worcester (Worcestershire) Regiment. Ironically service #2023
Prior to 1920, each regiment issued their own service numbers which were unique only within that regiment.
Charles Frewin was my great-grandfather, from
    West Bromwich, Staffordshire, England.
The Queen's South Africa Medal is a British campaign medal awarded to British and Colonial military personnel, and to civilians employed in an official capacity, who served in the Second Boer War in South Africa.
CAPE COLONY (11 October 1899 – 31 May 1902). For service in the Cape of Good Hope where no clasp for a specific action in the Cape had been received.
    (Interesting note: Winston Churchill was
covering the Boer War as a correspondent for a British newspaper and was taken prisoner but pulled off a daring escape.)
