Description

Light Pink natural light Tugtupite fl. Red & just a little Green due to Uranium impurities on reverse side pic 3 (3"x3"x2 1/2")
Kvanefjeld, Illmaussaq complex, Narsaq, Kalaallit Nunaat (Greenland).
Collected in the late 1990's .  Pic 1 the Fl face is 3"x3" and it sits well in a display.  Clean specimen in Natural light, Under SW it is tenebrescent to a deep pinkish-red color pic 6, from a light pink pic 5.
A few small vugs with microcrystals some tugtupite, the best of which are in pic 7.  Pic taken with a digital microscope.
Crystals up to recently have only been reported from the Taseq Slope.  This specimen is from Kvanefjeld and was collected prior to the Taseq slope being opened in the early 2000's.
It is phosphorescent unable to photograph.
Under LW it Fl. a salmon orange color Pic 2.  On the reverse side comparing Pics 3 &4 the area of Fl. increases under LW because the LW UV penetrates the surrounding rock to the Tugtupite below.  The SW UV does not penetrate and Fl. only at the surface.  This specimen was in the Warren Museum display that was mentioned in the 2004
