    Description

    Imperial
    Capital Rehabilitation Commemorative Medal (
    帝都復興記念章
    Teito fukkō kinen shō)
    was created by Imperial Edit No. 148 on August 13th, 1930;
    and was awarded to people who assisted in rebuilding of Tokyo after devastating 1923 earthquake (and subsequent fires) that left most of the city in ruins. It was awarded to 30,000 people, BUT most recipients were from Tokyo, and during WWII Tokyo was once again devastated.
    This is one of the rarest Japanese medals, because of low number struck and awarded, and because many did not survive the war.
    Box: purple
    cardboard paste, gold gilt letters:
    帝都復興記念章
    (Imperial
    Capital Rehabilitation Commemorative Medal
    ). Paper and purple felt inside
    Condition: Ribbon slightly soiled, medal and tarnished and slightly worn (Needs cleaning). Box in poor condition,
    scratches, dents,
    loss of paper,  especially on sides and bottom, wood revealed in four spots, but letters are clear and readable and intact.
