    Description

    Fluorescent Mineral Sales MinerShop
    Huge Fantasy Rock
Tugtupite, Sodalite, Chkalovite, Analcime, Natrolite Green, Uranyl Green, Feldspar
    Taseq Slope, Ilimaussaq Complex, Greenland
    8” x 5 1/2" x 3”, 3lb 12.1 oz
The main minerals on this large specimen are tugtupite (cherry red SW), along with chkalovite - the tugtupite is formed as eyes around the chkalovite, blue analcime, sodalite (orange) and green chkalovite throughout the matrix. Under LW both the tugtupite and the sodalite fluoresce a bright orange (more salmon for the tugtupite).
There is still a lot of testing that needs to be done in this area. It has only been explored for the last 20 years, still many new minerals to be found and identified.
The nickname “Fantasy Rock” encompasses a group of rocks found on the Taseq Slope in the Ilimaussaq Complex, Greenland and only in this one locality within the complex. A typical Fantasy Rock usually consists of four basic minerals: tugtupite, sodalite, chkalovite, analcime, and they are always the most color-rich pieces from this exotic, remote locale.

A personal note from Mark Cole, MinerShop
"As many of my followers have noticed, I (Mark) have retired from active sales. My daughter, Valerie, has joined the MinerShop crew and will be taking over our sales. She has assumed my large inventory of Greenland and other world-wide minerals, has learned to take the same great photos you've come to expect, and will offer the same great service you've gotten used to. She grew up around these minerals and, thankfully, got the glow-bug herself at a young age. A father's dream to have one of his children appreciate our hobby, insuring a home for his lifetime's passion. Please support her in this transition, and be assured I'm behind her every step of the way."
