Large LW & SW Fluorescent Sphalerite ,Ogdensburg, NJ #22

Description

A nice big chunk of a calcite/franklinite/willemite ore mixture with bright dramatic areas of sphalerite. The first three photos are under longwave UV and show the specimen fluorescing orange and blue with some response of green from the willemite. Photos 3-5 show the specimen fluorescing magenta under shortwave UV with the willemite somewhat more visible in green. This piece has outstanding  fluorescence in both longwave and shortwave UV. Photos 7 & 8  are in direct sunlight and you can clearly see the silvery crystalline texture of the sphalerite. Photos 9, 10 and 11 are under indoor white fluorescent lighting. Collected at the Sterling Hill Mine in Ogdensburg, NJ. Size: 5" x 4-1/2" x 1-3/4". Weight is 2 lbs.12 oz. or 1236 grams.
