The case is clean although the latch wobbles a bit. The original silk ribbon and rosette are clean. Awarded to enlisted men for long and faithful service. The medal is of bright gilded silver. The case interior is covered in purple silk. They were established in 1888 by Emperor Meiji. The award takes its name from the sacred treasures featured on it. These are the Yata no kagami or Yata mirror at the centre which represents purity and wisdom. The Yasakani jewels represented by the small red cabochons ,and the Emperors sword represented by the white enameled rays. REFER TO PICTURES FOR CONDITION.
