    It is a medal of swordsmanship of the 22nd Infantry Regiment of the Japanese Army.
    The 22nd Infantry Regiment is a unit organized in Matsuyama, Ehime Prefecture as a guardian ground, and Tadayoshi Sakurai, who wrote the world's best-selling "Nikudan" in the Russo-Japanese War, also belongs to the Siberian Intervention and the Shanghai Incident. He played an active part in each front as "Iyo's meat bullet regiment". After that, in 1945, it was transferred from the 11th Division to the 24th Division, and the recruitment area for soldiers was changed to Hokkaido, but many of the executives continued to fight until the end of the war as they were from Ehime Prefecture.
    In 1945, a part of the regiment was extracted to Woleai Island on the Southern Front (many people died of starvation by the end of the war due to supply interruption), and the main force of the regiment subsequently became a slave of the 32nd Army and moved from Manchuria to Okinawa and convened locally. We filled the vacancy and welcomed the landing of the US military. Many war histories tell us about the fighting and fierce smashing in the Battle of Okinawa.
    The age of this product is unknown, but it seems that it was before the incorporation of the 24th Division before the war. There is a helmet and "sword" on the front, and "Ayuhi 22nd 1st Company Commander" on the back. It is believed that it was a prize for a swordsmanship tournament within the company.
