    Description

    Calcite on
    Fossil Clam Shell
    weight= 13 oz.
    4.25" x 3" x 1.75"
    This is a fossil clam with Golden Calcite crystals. This is a great piece!  It shows some large crystallization and shows the shell where the calcite grew all in the inside. With a long wave UV Light, this
    piece will  slightly fluoresce but has a cool more bright green phosphoresce that last a couple or more seconds.
    On a matrix of smaller fossils, and shellstone.  The clams, also known as Mercenaria Permagana are
    a
    round 1.8 to 2 million years old.  From Rucks Pit near Okeechobee, Florida.  Mangrove trees that grew for many years over the limestone helped to leach out the calcite into the lower level of fossilized clams and other shells.  A really wild combination of
    time, minerals, plants, and animals that gives us these awesome minerals!
