Friedelite Veins in Fluorescent Orange Calcite, Franklin, NJ

Description

A good-sized hand specimen of a calcite, franklinite & willemite matrix with a layer and veins of crystalline light brown friedelite.  Collected at the Sterling Hill Mine in Ogdensburg, NJ. More of a daylight specimen, but the UV response is interesting. The calcite is fluorescent red/orange and the willemite is fluorescent green under shortwave UV light. The friedelite is non-fluorescent. Size is 3-1/2" x 3" x 2-1/2". Weight is 1 lb. 3 oz. or 542 grams.
