OLD Santo Domingo pair of blue natural turquoise tapered jaclas with white clam shell corn at the bottoms and red tubular trade beads at the ends. The beautiful dark colored well matched heishe beads have occasional chipped edges and indented dark colored matrix, which helps to identify the turquoise as natural and not stabilized. Natural turquoise jaclas are much more valuable than the more common contemporary jaclas that are made from stabilized turquoise. I am also listing a pair of stabilized turquoise jaclas this week so you can see the difference. I am not sure where this turquoise comes from, but if I had to guess, I would say Godber’s Burnham. The jaclas are strung on cotton string and are knotted and clipped at the ends. You would drape these jaclas over a necklace to wear them in their classic form.
Very good quality and condition for these ca. mid – 1900’s jaclas. Reasonable starting price.
BEAUTIFUL NATURAL TURQUOISE!
