    Description

    T r e m o l i t e  in  Limestone
Nellie Ulmer Quarry  -   Rockland , Maine
Bid on this  nice specimen of fluorescent tremolite crystals in limestone from Rockland ,  Maine. This piece is
    loaded
with acicular (needle like) crystals that fluoresce a blue - white under short wave ultra-violet. It's a very interesting crystal specimen under normal light, but it is equally as fascinating when exposed to short wave U.V.!   Rockland has been a source of limestone mining since the 1800's. Along the Old County Road there are dozens of abandoned limestone mines where one can collect both fluorescent calcite and fluorescent tremolite. This specimen was collected from the Nellie Ulmer Quarry in October 2018 .
