Look for
Mineralman
at the Tucson Gem and Mineral Society Show (TGMS) February 10th-13th 2022 for the
"Show that Glows"
in the Convention Center at my regular
space 1701-1703
in the big black tent
.
The focus of the show will be Fluorescent minerals! This is the SHOW you do not want to miss.
I'll have more of the Anderson Fluorescent Collection available for sale.
See you there and don't forget to ask about our "Special Fluorescent's"! I set aside mixed flats of hard to find/rarer single specimens.
I will also be at the MGSCV Gem and Mineral show (West Coast Glow) March 2022
at the Newark Pavilion
in Newark, California. Look for me in the Fluorescent Hall.
Active FMS members receive a 10% discount on show minerals and I will have the
"Special Fluorescent's"
flats with me.
All other customers bring a packing slip or receipt from any online transaction with mineralman to either show and receive a 10% discount on

See you there!
Graham has stolen 2 thousand pounds of fluorescent rock from me and I advise fluorescent rock collectors to avoid him in Tucson. He spins a good story but that is all it is. For details contact me directly.

NOTES ON ULTRAVIOLET:
The higher quality the Ultraviolet (UV) source, the better fluorescent minerals look. Critical factors include;
filtration (Hoya glass vs Plastic filter or lens),
lamp wattage, bulb composition, lamp construction, wave length and distance of lamp to specimen. For best results with any UV source, observe against a black, non-fluorescent, non-reflective background, in complete darkness with eyes adapted. To dark adapt your eye's, you must be in complete darkness for approximately seven (7) minutes. The photos here were taken using a WAY-TOO-COOL Shortwave (SW), Midwave (MW) or Longwave (LW) lamps, metered and exposed to show fluorescent response to its best advantage
.
The more powerful the ultraviolet lamp, the brighter the fluorescent response. Low cost (cheap) ultraviolet lamps that purport to provide shortwave and/or longwave will not adequately fluoresce most minerals. Neither will very low wattage shortwave lamps. The filter is the most expensive component of a lamp and for a low price it will not be a quality filter - it will either permit too much visible light to pass through or not enough ultraviolet light. The second most expensive component is a high quality (UV) bulb or LED. Cheap out on these two critical items and you will become disappointed with collecting fluorescent minerals because of the poor fluorescent response.
I will indicate which wavelength is
appropriate for the particular specimen being offered at auction and wavelength (SW/MW,LW) used as well as the wattage of UV lamp used for photography.
I use 2 - 9 watt WAY-TOO-COOL lamps to illuminate most specimens. There are great resources on the internet that can direct you to reliable UV lamp dealers. Tap into those resources before you buy a lamp.

Due to recent changes at Ebay, it is now necessary for me to ship purchases within one business day of receiving payment. I will often ship the same day if payment is made sufficiently early. Please, if you want to combine shipping with subsequent purchases,
do not pay
until I invoice you with the correct discounted combined shipping. Just let me know when you are ready for the invoice.
If you pay, I have no choice but to ship
.
I will hold an "open box" for up to 14 days allowing you the opportunity to add items to one box and thereby minimizing shipping charges. But only if you contact me first.
International shipping is not cheap and PayPal adds to the problem by charging a higher percentage for international transactions. Ebay also charges a commission on the shipping paid for both international and domestic purchases. I charge you what it costs me - I do not profit from shipping. Once I mail or ship a package, the time in route or
ANY
damage to specimen(s) is out of my control. I do pack all specimens using the latest techniques and care.
If you are not happy with an item, please
