    Description

    Auction for vintage WW1 Great Britain Victory Medal to 2LT A.E. Roberts. Roberts looks to have been a pilot-observor.

    WW1 Victory Medal impressed 2/Lieut A.E. Roberts. R.A.F. On-line research indicates that Albert Edward Roberts was issued service number 13634 and served in 13 Sqn flying RE8's. On 26 Nov 1918 he was injured when the RE8 (C2723) crashed into the side of a house and caught fire while descending through a cloud during practice formation. He was slightly injured. His pilot or observer (not clear) was LT A.P. Thomas who was also slightly injured. Information can be found in Casualty Report Air 1/865 in the British Archives. The medal was obtained from a Canadian dealer from SOS some years ago. More research is required for this medal.
