    Description

    Welcome!
WHAT IS GREAT ABOUT IT: I offer a unique early hand constructed Navajo bracelet dating to the 1930s or earlier, made with three large, striking, chrysocolla stones, based on a foundation of chisel split silver into three wires at the center, that are one at the sides and terminals. The piece is beautifully hand stamped at the sides and that stamp work includes a snake at the center. In addition there is excellently detailed graceful, thin wire work surrounding and framing the stones, also twisted wires, some very fine tiny applied raindrops, and two large ones at the head and foot of the main stone. The stones are very beautiful with a smokey appearance, as if they are clouds in the sky. An early masterpiece.
CONDITION: This very old bracelet is in good wearable, collectible, condition despite some wear to the stones and repairs to the silver. You can see the foundation wires were soldered in several places. There is some very slight mobility to one of the side stones, as well, but it is secure in the setting and I wear the bracelet which fits like a glove, without concern.
    MEASUREMENTS:
    • internal length 5-3/8" silver alone, 7/8" gap, total 6-1/4"
    • width c 2-1/2" center, c 3/8" at the terminals for comfort
    • stones' size 1-7/8" x 1-1/4" center stone. 1" x 11/16" each side stone
    • unsigned by the artist but there are scratched initials of VR, which might be the artist or an owner
    • unmarked for metal content but it is guaranteed to be at least coin at .900 or sterling at .925
SUMMARY: This is a superbly gorgeous bracelet, very old, with stones that are just dreamy and silver work that is top notch. The stamp work on the sides is superb and even includes a snake, which helps date it to the early Fred Harvey period of time. The silver work surrounding and framing the plain bezel set fabulous stones is very fine with graceful wire work, fine twisted wire work and applied tiny raindrops long with two larger drops at the foot and head of the primary stone. The bracelet is highly collectible and it takes my breath away when I look at it. It has a refinement and elegance we rarely see.
