    Description

Antique Gorham Silverplate Aesthetic Movement Large Covered Serving Dish Bowl
Presented is an impressive antique Gorham silverplate covered serving dish,
dating to circa 1890. The dish is made in a handsome classically inspired form,
with stylized shell and acanthus designs around the lid and on the handles. The
rim of the dish has an interesting Aesthetic Movement style beaded design, more
like bubbles really. Likely intended as an entree serving dish, this piece is a
large and very useable size, and would make a great addition to any table
    setting.
This piece is in excellent condition. The silver plating is in great shape,
with no wearthrough I can see. There are no splits, no dents, no breaks, no
monograms, no monogram removals, and no repairs.
The underside of the piece is stamped with the Gorham maker's mark as well as
'silver soldered' and the product number, 0670, as well as the capacity, 4 ½
pints. There is also a rooster shaped mark, possibly for the date 1890, though
date marks are more typically seen on sterling holloware.
The dish weighs 1.5 kilograms or 3.3 pounds.
The dish measures about 13 by 7 3/4 by 7 1/2 inches, LxWxH.
