Description
Hallmarks indicate that this pair was made by a well-known London silversmith, Soloman & Hougham, in 1811. They are in a neo-classical style with minimal ornamentation. Ball feet support the rounded bowls. These contrast with the other linear and angular features: the rectangular spout which matches the squared off, ribbed handles; the simple and elegant gadrooned top rim. On one side of each piece, there is a chased design which I am unable to identify.Condition: creamer has 2 dents (not major), a 1/4" linear depression, and a pin-size ding on the inside. Sugar has some waviness on the inside and a dime-size uneven bump.
Dimensions: creamer is 3 1/2" tall, 6 1/2" long; sugar is 4" tall and 7 1/2" long.
Combined silver weight is 475 grams.
