Description
You're bidding on a group of 5 different Japanese medals on a uniform medal bar shown in the photos. Please take care in examining the photos for the condition of these medals as they're the exact ones you're bidding on. There is some age damage to some of the medals and ribbons. There is also damage to the medal bar with some of the medal holders (that descend from the medal bar) missing or broken. The following medals are included in this lot:Order of the Sacred Treasure 8: This medal was established in January 1888 and was awarded to both military and civilian for long service with good conduct. The Sacred Treasure 8 was one of two classes of this medal (7 & 8) which could be awarded to military enlisted personnel. The back of the medal reads "Order of Merit Decoration".
Taisho Enthronement: While the Taisho Emperor ascended to the throne in 1912, the ceremonies for this enthronement didn't take place until 1915. This medal commemorates that 1915 event. The medal is made of silver with an attached gilt chrysanthemum. The obverse features two imperial banners with "Banzai" written on them. The reverse is inscribed with "Taisho 4 (1915) November, Enthronement Commemorative Medal".
Order of the Rising Sun 7: This medal was given to both the military and civilians. This medal was established on April 10, 1875 and was the first national decoration awarded by the Japanese government.
1931-1934 Japanese Manchuria Incident: This medal was awarded to all military service members that served in China and Manchuria from 1931 to 1934. The obverse of the medal features the imperial chrysanthemum crest above a crow. The reverse of the medal two military helmets.
1937-1945 China Incident: This medal was awarded to all military service members that served in China from 1937 to 1945. The obverse of the medal features two crossed flags, the imperial chrysanthemum crest and a crow. The reverse of the medal features mountains, clouds, and waves with the inscription "China Incident".
2600th Imperial Rule Anniversary: This medal was established to commemorate the 2600th year (1940) since the founding of the Japanese empire in 660 BC. The medal features the Imperial Chrysanthemum above the sacred double bridges leading to the Imperial Palace in Tokyo. The reverse of the medal features Japanese characters that read "2600th Commemorative Anniversary Medal" with the characters below reading "Showa 15" (1940).
Red Cross Member's Medal: This medal was given to members of the military and civilians. The medal is made of silver and measures approximately 1.2 inches across. The front has the symbol of the Japanese Red Cross Society with the Geneva cross. The back side has the society foundation date, Meiji Year 21, but this is not the actual date that the award was given.
